Kyndal :: Maternity Session

IMG_0532 KHC2 IMG_0573 IMG_0516

Kyndal and I used to work together. So when she contacted me for a maternity session before she had even announced it on Facebook I was ecstatic.
Maternity sessions are kind of my pride and joy. I love them. I love everything about a bump. And I especially loved this session because we shot at Lake Gaston (a first for me) and the sunset was oh so perfect and Kyndal was oh so beautiful. It just worked. EVERYTHING about this session just worked.
We had originally planned to shoot the first weekend in October - but hurricane Joaquin ruined our plans and we ended up shooting the following Tuesday. My husband actually works (and fishes) in the Clarksville area so I spent days grilling him looking for the perfect spot for our session. Knowing that we wanted the lake in the background we had originally planned to shoot on a beach. Unfortunately - again thanks to Joaquin - most of the beaches were flooded. So I started to look for a dock. My husband was the first to throw in his two cents about a dock located behind the Sonoco where the sunset would be perfect. Seriously.
I was skeptical, until we arrived and I realized he was 100% correct.
This dock, the sunset, the reschedule, the weather - it was perfect.
I'm looking forward to meeting the little princess residing in that bump in another two months!

Williams Couple :: Maternity Session

736x2748
Occasionally, I'll get on the local community boards and see if anyone is in need of a photographer. The competition in this area is tough, there are so many talented photographers, and I'm usually not the only to put my name out there. Occasionally though, I get picked from the bunch - and it's kind of like winning the lottery. Especially when I meet a couple like these two.
Kirsti and Dustin are expecting their first baby, and it's a little boy, and I can just tell that they're going to make the most amazing parents. When we initially started discussing her maternity session, Kirsti had mentioned maybe doing it at a park. I threw out some options and after a little back and forth she decided that her families property, where their engagement pictures had also been taken, was the perfect location.
I couldn't agree more.
We shot at sunset, my favorite time, and with the open fields - the lighting was perfect and I was able to capture some beautiful skies in their images as well.
I can't wait to meet their little man, Lucas, here in just a couple more weeks! I wish nothing more than the best to these two as they enter the next phase of life, parenthood, and their new alias's of Mommy and Daddy. <3

A Sunset Maternity Session

736x2748
Do you guys remember Beckett? Remember how I told you about his beautiful momma and you all rolled your eyes like, yeah right... Well this is her, and I told you so. I've known Erica for several years now and I can't even begin to tell you what an amazing person/mother she is. And how absolutely gorgeous is she with this perfect bump!? I can not wait to meet the little girl that's cooking in there.
These pictures were taken on a beautiful summer evening last week. I went to Erica's house and we cranked out a maternity session as the sun was setting. Literally the whole session took about a half hour, it was like every picture just worked. I already knew the pictures would be gorgeous but I am telling you guys, I had the worst time trying to decide which shots I should use for my portfolio. So many decisions! And did I like them better in color or black and white?! It was torture, but obviously the good kind. *side note, good torture is like too much chocolate.
Ok enough gushing about this beautiful momma, you can see the pictures I chose for my portfolio here.
Last week's photo a day challenge coming this weekend, in between shoots.

Arrowood Maternity Session

736x2748

Two weeks ago I had the honor of meeting this super sweet couple and capturing their excitement to become new parents. Their love for each other was obvious and the love that they share for their unborn child was so incredibly moving!
I was so excited to meet them because when Allyn originally contacted me it was to set up her newborn shoot. Obviously I agreed to it, but eagerly asked if I could offer a seriously discounted maternity session as well to add to my portfolio. I was SO HAPPY when she agreed! I told her to let me know of any ideas or poses that she found and wanted to recreate. A few days later we had a ton of ideas compiled.
We met at a local park on a beautiful Saturday morning with a tote full of props. We had to venture a bit because the place where I had originally wanted to shoot was overrun by tents for a scavenger hunt as well as several other photographers taking advantage of the weather and scenery. I'm glad that we had to scout though, the somewhat secluded field that we found was perfect for the look that Allyn was wanting.
The shoot itself couldn't have gone better. These two, as I said, are so in love and were so fun to work with. I know I keep saying that my clients are fun, but it's the truth. Although my photography is still more of a hobby than a career, I couldn't ask for a better client list. They're all so cooperative and full of ideas! It makes this "job" extremely easy and next to motherhood, the best job ever.
